The Ecstasy of Influence: Midsouth Artists Centering the Margins

Mentors and students, Midsouth natives and travellers, queer, Latinx, Chicano, nonbinary, Asian American, Black - the artists in this show are incredibly diverse, and all work with a commitment to express the richness of their identity. This commitment is steadfast, despite (or perhaps because of) the fact that such identities are historically marginalized in the region. The work of this intergenerational, interconnected group draws attention to the diverse communities that make up the Midsouth, while maintaining distinct individuality that speaks to the present moment.

The artists actively build community and spotlight the marginalized, and in doing so, work to re-pair disinvestment and disenfranchisement.

Artists: Ahmad George, Maritza Dávila, Tommy Kha, Richard Lou, and D'Angelo Lovell Williams
