“At the same time another layer of the work is the possibility of the figures being the last generation that could enjoy themselves recklessly in abundance right in the shadow of the climate collapse. This environmental threat might soon be the force behind their displacement and relocation as well. Pink is the color of dreams; yet exploration with the magic of color reflects my search for the dreampond. I use the colors that give me joy, which I long to share. But also, these are the colors that reflect my longing for the Mediterranean sun, which I left behind. As an immigrant from Turkey, having to create community and a sense of belonging in a new place has inspired me to convey radical love through paintings with the explosion of color, light, and sense of touch. Each touch conveys an emotion or reach for belonging and play. Toys are metaphors for being childlike, carefree and nonjudgmental, all loving and innocent at the same time.” – B. Savci, 2023
